Accessibility & privacy
Commitment
This is the personal website of Yoav Rubin. I want everyone to be able to read it and use it, including people who rely on assistive technology. The site is built to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA, which is also the basis of the Israeli accessibility standard (IS 5568).
What is in place
- Semantic HTML with one main heading per page, labelled sections, and text alternatives for meaningful images. Decorative illustrations are hidden from screen readers.
- Full keyboard navigation with a visible focus indicator, and a "Skip to content" link as the first focusable element.
- Colour contrast of at least 4.5:1 for text, and no information conveyed by colour alone.
- Motion respects the operating system's reduce motion setting. The accessibility menu (bottom-left button) also offers Stop animations, Larger text, High contrast, Underline links and a Readable font. Choices are remembered in your browser.
- No auto-playing sound, no flashing content, no time limits.
- Text can be zoomed to 200% in the browser without loss of content.
Known limitations
- The "Yoav OS" section is an interactive illustration: a simulated retro desktop that opens when you scroll. Its windows can be opened from the keyboard (Tab to a desktop icon, press Enter) and closed with their Close button, but dragging windows is a mouse gesture. Everything shown inside it (résumé, ventures, hobbies, contact) is also present in the page as ordinary text, and the full profile is on LinkedIn.
- The Minesweeper window is a game, provided for fun; it is not required to use the site.
- Linked external sites (FinPlay, Ensemble, FlyFort, LinkedIn, Instagram) have their own accessibility statements.
Privacy and cookies
This site sets no cookies and uses no analytics, advertising or tracking scripts. The only data stored is your accessibility preferences, kept in your own browser (localStorage) and never sent anywhere; the Reset button in the accessibility menu clears them. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which receives your browser's standard request headers when the page loads. The site is hosted on Vercel.
